Read, for yourself.

Reading has always been a part of my life growing up and now old. It all started in the mothers tummy methinks, because she is a voracious reader and that just transcended in the brother and me. I still remember the first book I read (other than the story books) was Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens and there was no saying no ever again.

As part of our school curriculum, we were assigned a book each summer to read and come he next session with a synopsis in hand. I dreaded it the first year for sure, reading a book mean’t not enough play time and that was blasphemy! But little did I know how books would change my mind forever. Scarlet Pimpernel, Great Expectations, Matilda and many more shaped me as I grew into a “young adult” giving me the opportunity to learn words and phrases I had no clue even existed! That with a side of Nancy Drew, Agatha Christie, PG Wodehouse, Hardy Boys, Baby Sitters Club made growing up absolutely worth every minute of missing out on play time.

As years went by, I grew out of the Nancy Drews to the more mushy and dramatic content of Jane Austen, Mills & Boons, Nora Roberts, Judith McNaught etc and then to more mature content of Sydney Sheldon, Mary Higgins Clark, David Baldacci, Jeffery Archer and more with a side of Mills & Boons for sure.

This was a time that I read three to four books in a week. Boy, I had a lot of time in hand. I would even put on a British accent while reading my Jane Austen. Well, I still do.

Why am I talking about all this? Well. It’s simple. While I read I was never alone and my imagination had no bounds. I could be anything and everything. I had no nationality and I still do not.

When you read you are in “no man’s land”. You just are. You are a being who can do and be who they want to be.

Many would argue that reading is boring, the movies are so much better and that is when anyone who reads shouts really LOUD that NO THE MOVIE CAN NEVER EVER BE BETTER.

It just cannot and till today, I would read the book first and then watch the movie. Trust me, if you do that, you will know why. I still haven’t watched Game of Thrones because I am reading the book right now, the day I am done. I shall watch the show. Weird? YES!

I had given up on reading for a few and the reasons are yet not known to me, I just did not read but I am now back to it and I feel like sharing five books that I would recommend to anyone and everyone. Each of these books have their own flavour and if you don’t think one is your “kind” then the other would be. So here goes;

Not Working by Lisa Owens is a book for the generation of procrastinators that we are who are constantly asking the question “WHAT IS MY TRUE CALLING IN LIFE?”

The Unexpected Inheritance of Inspector Chopra by Vaseem Khan is a mystery novel that would make you bite your nails in suspense and tickle your funny bone endlessly at the same time!

Look who’s back by Timur Vermes is a book about Adolph Hitler coming back to life in 2011. Things have changed and how around him and the Führer has a hard time adjusting to this New World under the leadership of a Woman!! Just imagine.

Unwritten Laws of Business by W.J King is a book for the start up generation that we are. It talks about all the things one needs to know if they are thinking of “starting something of their own”.

Last but most definitely not the least, The Game of Thrones by Sir. George R.R Martin. Winter is coming. I need not say no more.

That is all from me guys. I urge you to pick up ANY book and just read a page today followed by every day of your life. It’s just amazing. Even more amazing that Instagram update, Youtube Video or even a blog! HA!

Stay Tangled! xx
